ARCO 2011 SPEED, WAITING FOR THE FINALS
East Europe and Chinese climbers lead the semifinals.

This afternoon have been held the Speed semifinals (both for Men and Women). According to he qualification format, two athletes climb on the speed route at the same time, but the selection will be made depending on the best 16 results. Each climber has two attempts. The seeding, as usual, is dominated by East Europe and Chinese athletes, but some attention has been drawn also on other climbers who are competing trying to gain points for the Combined medal (Lead + Boulder + Speed). Just to mention a few of them, Adam Ondra and Cédric Lachat were at the starting line… with some ups and dows: while Lachat scored a decent result (although he didn’t make it to the finals), Ondra fell two times!
The results are worth of such an important competition; besides the “usual” leading characthers from East Europe and China, Sara Morandi (ITA) performed really good, gaining the 7th place, just 0”01 from her personal best.
The finals will be held from 19.30 on, and the format will be a knock-out competition, starting from 1/8 till the final.
