FINAL IFSC BOULDER WORLD CUP 2011

The world`s best boulderers will gather in Munich next Friday and Saturday for the Final IFSC Boulder World Cup 2011. Athletes will have their showdown there and will crown the best overall Champions of the season in the Olympic Stadium, the special backdrop of this exciting competition.
The event, is promoted and organized for the second time in Munich by the German Alpine Club, and will be the central feature of the parallel running SportScheck Outdoor Festival.
Chief Routesetter Serik Kazbekov (UKR) and the routsetter team Tonde Katiyo (FRA), Maxi Klaus(GER, Robert Heinrich and Manuel Brunn (GER) have been assigned the duty to prepare the last problems of the season.
The number of athletes competing in this final round is considerable: 104 climbers (72 men & 26 women) from more than 26 countries. Among the favorites Kilian Fishhuber (AUT), the most successful Bouldering athlete of all times (16 Boulder World Cups won since 2004, 5x Overall Boulder World Cup Champion) and current leader of the IFSC Boulder World Cup; Dmitry Sharafutdinov (RUS) Boulder World Champion 2011 & 2007 and second in the 2011 ranking; Guillaume Glairon Mondet (FRA) winner of 2011 Boulder World Cup in Log Dragomer & Barcelona and third ranked in 2011; Anna Stöhr (AUT) Boulder World Champion 2011 & 2007, 2010 Boulder European Champion, 1st place overall Boulder World Cup 2008 and first classified in IFSC Boulder World Cup ranking; Akiyo Noguchi (JAP) winner of Munich Boulder World Cup 2010, 2009 & 2010 Overall Boulder World Cup Champion, 2009 Champion Combined World Cup (Boulder & Lead) and second in 2011 ranking; Alex Puccio (USA) 1st place Boulder World Cup Vail 2009 and third position in IFSC world ranking.
While in the men’s field the Austrian Kilian Fischhuber mortgaged the World Cup 2011 with its fifth victory in Sheffield, one competition in advance, reaching 560 points in the 2011 ranking - with his direct rival Sharafutdinov following at 430; in the women’s field games are still open and will be settled at the very last boulder. Anna Stöhr is currently leading with a little margin of only five points ahead of Akiyo Noguchi.
The men’s and women’s qualifications will take place on Friday 19th respectively at 10.00 am & 16.30 pm, while semifinals and finals will be held on Saturday 20th respectively at 11.30 am (men’s & women’s semis) and at 18.30pm.
