From October 21st to October 30th , Bressanone / Brixen will host the 2011 edition of International Mountain Summit, a meeting that is becoming, with ever-growing authoritativeness, the main event for discussing and reviewing the most important themes in our “vertical realm”. As usual, a lot of alpinists and climbers will attend IMS. This year the focus will be especially centered on younger generations and free-climbing.
From this edition, Up-climbing is proud to be media-partner of International Mountain Summit.
The details of the programme, the contents of debates and the final list of guests are being refined; meanwhile, here’s one of the first initiative: the photo-contest Mountain Moves.
The theme? Movement! It’s forbidden to be motionless!
Mountains are made by rock, and even if they don’t move, they’re able to generate movement. They allow streams to flow along their slopes, they grant an essential living space for vegetation and wildlife, and are constantly chiseled by winds and weather. Even mankind consider them either a “training ground” or a relax resort. Everything that moves or is moved belongs to the concept “Mountain Moves”.

Pics can be sent from June 15th to August 15th, and public on-line voting takes place from Aug 16th to Aug 31st .
Every user can vote a pic only once, and can express a maximum of three different votes.
After the voting operations, the winner will be awarded with an IMS Mountain Pack, consisting in one GORE jacket, one pair of AKU mountain boots and one KIKU backpack.
The first five runner-up will take part to the second leg of the contest: a jury, composed by professional photographer, will select three pics, awarding these prizes:
1st 3.000 eur
2nd 2.000 eur
3rd 1.000 eur
Plus an invitation to the prize-giving ceremony (accommodation included) which will take place at IMS in Oct 22nd.
A selection of the best 25/30 pics will be exposed in outdoor locations, in the historical centre of Bressanone / Brixen, from Oct 7th to Oct 31st.
