Kranj will host the second last IFSC World Cup event this year
The Alpine Association of Slovenia hosts the ninth IFSC Lead World Cup on November, 19-20, 2011 in the Sport hall Zlato Polje Kranj, Slovenia.
This is the fifteenth consecutive time for the event is held and has become together with Arco and Serre Chevalier one of the most traditional competition climbing locations in the world. “We are very excited to showcase once again our best climbers in the Kranj World Cup, a competition which has become since many years a must in the IFSC World Cup Calendar” – says IFSC President Marco Maria Scolaris.
Event Organisers will do their best to make this competition one of such a high-level and to meet the expectations of an experienced and enthusiastic crowd of over 2,000 spectators. “We will put all of our efforts into hosting yet another memorable competition in Kranj” – says Tomo Cesen, Kranj Event Organizer.
97 athletes from 24 countries will compete in this World Cup. The event will see the participation of the strongest athletes on the circuit: Jakob Schubert, from Austria, leader of the IFSC World Cup ranking and winner of 7 out of 9 competitions; Mina Markovic (SLO) and Jain Kim (KOR) the strongest in the female’s field with 5 and 4 victories this season; the Spanish Ramón Julian Puigblanque, back on the highest point of the podium in Valence after the World Championship in Arco; MajaVidmar (SLO) and Sachi Amma (JAP) third classified respectively in the female’s and male’s world cup ranking.
IFSC TV schedule will start on Saturday, 19 with the men’s and women’s qualifications at respectively 9.00 am (CET) and 2 pm (CET) and will continue with the semifinals at 8 pm (CET). Finals will take place on Sunday, 20 at 5 pm (CET) and will be also broadcast live on the Slovenian National TV.
