SAN VITO CLIMBING FESTIVAL 2011

the first day

October 07, 2011

The first climbers registering to the Festival have been welcomed by a warm sunshine, and by the beautiful rocks and the charming sea of San Vito. Meanwhile, Mauro Calibani and Gabriele "Sbisighin" Gorobey were finishing to set the routes for the Top Marathon. Besides a new route in the Grotta del Cavallo, they have equipped a brand new sector, named "Grotta dei Santi - Camp". The unveiling will take place on Sunday, when the "bigs" will be tested by these new crags.

In the morning, the youngster attending primary and secondary schools have been initiated to climbing thanks to Massimo Faletti, Alpine Guide who's hoping to have ignited a sparkle in his young pupils… maybe the next generation of climbing champions will be from San Vito?

In the afternoon, after a Table-climbing aperitif offered by Salewa and Servolare, the main course: a soirée, introduced by Alan Formanek, director of Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF), screening "Tuzgle" by Julien Nadiras, featuring Nina Caprez.

Today the DWS E9 Contest will be held in Cala Firriato: the climbers will reach the spot thanks to the SCF catamaran. Ben Heason and Eliza Kubarska will be attending the DWS too!
In the afternoon, slack lining at Servolare and Versante Sud booths, new screenings from the VIMFF and, most of all, two town hall debates: a focus on 30 years of climbing in San Vito and s meeting with Rolando Larcher, who will present his new routes - including a new one in Palermo, and a clip named "dal Sud al Sud del Mondo" (From South to South).
