NEW ROUTES TO TORRES DEL PAINE BY AUER AND MAYR
Waiting for Godot at Central Tower 750m 7b and M6
Austrian climbers Hansjörg Auer and Much Mayr are an excellent party, together having just onsighted La Cattedrale in Marmolada, 850m 8a+, and climbed many extreme routes.
From end of December 2009 to January 2010, they were based at Torres del Paine,focusing a great cracks system on east wall of Central Tower. As the system was unfortunately discontinued, they had to place their line more to the right and climbed a strenuous itineray, in hard weather conditions, and in haevy dangers due to blocks of ice and rocks fall.
The duo onsighted on extremely severe weather a 7b pitch and reached the col between the North and Central tower. Waiting for Godot, the name of the new route.
