UELI STECK BACK IN THE MOUNTAINS

Last January 19, Ueli Steck has solo climbed Ginat route on the Droites North wall (ED: V M4+ 85°, 1000m), in 2h 8'.“
"After a two month break I started again to train properly. My motivation was increasing, even if I still have problems with my frozen feet." - writes Ueli on his website. - "A trip to Chamonix gave me the idea to solo climb the Droite’s North Face. A big wall, but nevertheless, very safe to climb even soloing."
"I was faster than Christophe Profit but this is secondary. I look forward again on climbing and mountaineering. I must admit that after 2 hours 8 minutes I was still pretty tired."
"For me it was not crucial to establish a record. I just wanted to climb, experience the experience. It is still impressive, be alone in a 1000 meter wall to climb. And I wanted to test where I stand, how fit I am. The ascent of Ginat is for me a motivational boost."
(Years ago French climber Cristophe Profit made the same ascent in 2h 30'.)
