It was 2012 and the then 13-year-old Jim Pope brought home two E6s at Burbage, Nosferatu, placing protections during the climb, and Life Assurance, with these already in place; not a small undertaking considering the young Jim’s age. Since then, this unusual British national athlete has strung together thanks a series of notable personal successes, such as the repetitions in the last few months of Meshuga at Black Rocks in Derbyshire and Appointment with Death at Wimberry Rocks, two E9 6c from which many English climbers stay away, without ever forgetting the races, which also see him involved internationally. In this beautiful video, Pope tells himself from the beginning to the recent sports performances, conducted under the guidance of Gaz Parry and Gavin Symonds, and there are several personal considerations.
