1^ Free ascent of Arch Wall – Trollveggen – Norway

Sindre Sæther, accompanied by his father Ole Johan,  completed in recent days the first free ascent of Arch Wall  (37 pitches) on Trollveggen Wall, Norway.
The route, opened in a few weeks of epic climb by  Drummond brothers (Hugh and Ed Ward) in 1972, was long considered as one of the toughest big walls in the world with difficulties up to A4 +.

The conditions of the immense granite wall –  that is almost always wet, had hitherto discouraged attempts – did not prevent the strong Sindre of free the impressive wall.

Sindre Sæther had to his credit, at home and abroad, redpoint up all’8c + onsight 8b and knows well the Trollveggen Wall, having climbed here several hard routes.
