21 Nov 8C boulder and a first ascent of 9a for Shawn Raboutou
From the Bouddha crag to Fionnay, Shawn begins well his journey in Switzerland.
That the young Shawn Raboutou is a worthy heir of his father Didier is already a well-established fact, and every news that sees him protagonist is always significant.
In these days, Shawn has arrived in Switzerland where he immediately obtained a couple of great results.
In the Bouddha Crag, in the Canton of Valais, he succeeded in the first ascent of L’Oeuvre, an old unsolved project bolted by Cyrille Albasini. An intense route, with a crux estimated 8B bloc itself that required to Raboutou 3 sessions of work. 9a probable, even if the American is cautious and suggests 8c + / 9a.
Back to bouldering, he visited the Fionnay area. Here Fondation Edge was waiting for him, a demanding fingery 8C by Dave Graham. This year, however, Shawn has a top level on boulders, as demonstrated by the rapid ascents of The Finnish Line in Rocklands and Creature from the Black Lagoon in the RMNP. Indeed, in only two short sessions he also repeated this other 8C.
