Young Basque climber Mikel Linazisoro, with only 15 years of age climbed his first 9a, Begi Puntuan, in Etxauri, thus becoming the youngest Spanish to ever reach this grade, and one of the youngest in the world.

Mikel used to practice aloine ski since he was three, and thanks to this he met Arkaiz Iurrita, trainer of his brother Ibai, who introduced him to sport climbing. Mikel climbed his first 8c+ at 13, and then kept on training very seriously to reach this latest top end performance.

“Each time it’s more difficult to reach the next level.” he says.
