Alaska range news

Clint Helander and Seth Holden completed in 4 days the first ascent of the Ice Pyramid (2820 meters) in the Revelation Mountains, at the far southwestern end of the Alaska Range.

Helander and Holden, together with Steve Sinor, did an important attempt to the Ice Pyramid in 2008, climbing 18 pitches on the southwest ridge. They later made the first ascent of an 8,385-foot peak they called the Exodus.

This spring, Helander and Holden succeeded topping out the Ice Pyramid by a knife-edge ridge and short rock steps. Back to the BC, the two decided the best-looking unclimbed route in the area was another line on the Ice Pyramid, but their attempt was halted in reason of deteriorating weather.
