04 Aug Alik Berg and Quentin Lindfield Roberts opening on the Chacraraju Este, Perù

The canadian Alik Berg and Quentin Lindfield Roberts, in the middle of july, have opened a new route on the est face of Chacraraju Este (6001m), Perù.

The route, “The Devil’s Reach Around” (M6 5.10, 90°), is the first route on this wall to be free climbed during the opening. Indeed the other route on this wall is “The Shriek of Black Stone” (5.10 A2), opened by slovenian mountaineers in alpine stile but non free climbed.

The canadian’s route was opened in two days, with long pauses for the too warm midday weather. However this mountain has the reputation to have imprevidible snow condition, that often had forced the climbers to pull back before the summit.
