20 May 9a again for Flor, Grosso e Diaz Rullo.
Some great ascents for Cesar Grosso, Jonatan Flor and Jorge Diaz Rullo.
Let’s start from Italy, where Cesar Grosso (Brazilian climber living in Trentino) has climbed Underground, one of the most famous route in the whole country. With its grade that swings from 8c+/9a to 9a, is one of the most attempted. For Cesar it was a real nemesis, he had already climbed a lot of hard routes in Arco but this one not. His plans were to try Reini’s vibes, but it was wet. Actually quite everything was wet but Underground was there… Why don’t you give a try? He found the right flow and he climbed the route, confirming the 8c+/9a range.
The good old Jonatan Flor is still in Spain. With a team of strong climbers, he keeps his motivation really high. In the world famous Cueva de Alì Babà he is projecting a new masterpiece called El Picacho. During the work on this huge project, he has climbed an “easy” version: Picacho increible total, a first ascent where he proposes the grade of 9a/+! This route is the last on a great list, with other names like Priorato de Sion (9a), El escape de Alì (8c+/9a) and Increible Total (8c+/9a). We are waiting for big news!
Talking about Jorge Diaz Rullo, he has climbed Mejorando Imagen. The route is an old route by Ramon Julian, proposed as 9a… The fresh first repetition by Megos gives an upgrade to 9b and, in Jorge’s opinion, the proper grade could be 9a+/b. On his Instagram he has declared to have spent eight days working on the route and he congrats with Iker Pou for bolting, with Ramonet for the FA and with Megos for the first repetition. Moreover, he says laughing that it is the harde route sent without a kneepad!
