07 Mar 9a again for Rémy Bergasse
“Steppe de pierres" is gone … but at what cost!" – Rémy Bergasse writes on his blog, after succeeding on the route, bolted two decades ago by L. Simoni, on Oasis in Les Calanques, on a large blank wall, and without any chipped hold.
"About the grade – compared to Bumayé that is 8c + and according to some it is an 8c +" hard "(but here for me perhaps they exaggerate a little) -" Steppe de pierres " took me a lot longer, fifteen sessions, although I have it near home and is more my style( …)
So using logic it is harder than an 8c +. It should be 9a but, as I said after DTN, with a little more experience on my side I could judge better. Repeaters are expected to confirm the grade of what is surely one of the best hard routes of les Calanques. "
Then Rémy returned to the route for a few photos, but during the descent he pulled large rock into his face, risking serious injury in the fall. Fortunately no broken bones!
Soon with the video of the ascent.
