Barbara Zangerl and Jacopo Larcher climb The Path in Canada

Another extraordinary performance by Barbara Zangerl in Canada where did the first female ascent of The Path, 8b+ trad rouet freed by Sonnie Trotter and also ascended by Jacopo Larcher.

That did not happen until Canada to do “normal” things was obvious from the beginning but as always between saying and doing …

Hence, Jacopo Larcher and Barbara Zangerl once again proved their skills by focusing on what happened in the past on the same project, closing it. One of these in the North American trip was The Path, trad route on Lake Louise with difficulty up to 8b +, speaking on French scale.
Ascended the first time by Trotter in 2017, as once out of the 80s, then saw some repetitions over time, stopped by some specialists, such as Ethan Pringle, Matt Wilder, Peter Kamitses, Miles Adamson and Tommy Caldwell.
In 2016 were Doug McConnell, Tim Emmett and Read Macadam to repeat it, in addition to an extraordinary Alex Megos who even went up flash, also overturning the same Sonnie, also because Alex was not just a trad specialist (but when you have his fingers …).
If that Jacopo Larcher ascent is the first one for an Italian, the Barbara Zanger climb is the first for a woman and goes to enrich her palmarès of FFA (first female ascent) already exceptional.

Her in fact the first on “Alpine trilogy”, with Kaisers neue Kleider, Silbergeier and End of Silence; the first of trad Prinzip Hoffnung and Achemine and, last but not least, the first on the 9a sport of Speed Integrale a few weeks ago in Voralpsee.
