27 Oct The first ever descent of Caroline Face, Monte Cook

Enrico Mosetti, Ben Briggs and Tom Grant made an important first skiing descent in New Zealand.

Enrico Mosetti, skier and A. Alpine Guide of Gorizia, along with British comrades Ben Briggs and Tom Grant, went to the winter season traveling to New Zealand.

Here, more precisely in South Island, the three made a first descent of a wall of a certain thickness: this is the Caroline Face (the south-east wall) of Mt Cook, 1800 meters of snow-capped wall!

Mt. Cook as well as being the highest mountain in New Zealand (3724 m) is known as a very dangerous mountain for avalanches. Caroline Face was the scenario of a sad accident in 2013 where Swedish skier Magnus Kastengren lost his life during the descent.
