Christian Core Re di Pietra (King of Stone) - Up-Climbing

Christian Core Re di Pietra (King of Stone)

On April 13th, Italian climber Christian Core has done the first ascent of a beautiful overhanging boulder in Mombracco di Robella, in Po Valley, not far from the town of Cuneo – Italy.

“Re di Pietra” – this is the name – is 7,5 m high, so is the psychological component…

Christian graded the boulder 8B. The name Re di Pietra (King of Stone) is in honour of Mount Viso, the imposing mountain that looks over the valley, here in this area called Re di Pietra.

Christian is psyched about the new line: “one of the best of the world “ – he said – “ follows a 40° degree wall on minuscule crimps and small holes.”

Christian Core (Savona 1974) won the WC boulder in 1999 and 2002 and has done the first ascent of many hard problems as the famed Gioia 8C in Varazze or Toky 8B+ in Val Ellero.
