David Lama: Dolomites and Mont Blanc

David Lama, one of the most promising Austrian climber, in recent months, has been heavily criticized for status he left the Cerro Torre after the failed attempt to free the Compressor Route .

Rolando Garibotti describes it as a mess of  fixed ropes and several bolts added to the already riddled rock of the route.

The company that sponsored Lama and he wanted to make a film on the enterprise said that they should first ensure the safety of the crew …

Leaving aside the controversy, in July, David Lama carried out two important repeats on high mountain. On the north face of Cima Ovest Lavaredo with Peter Ortner, had redpointed  Bellavista 8b +, the route that in 1999 Alex Huber first ascended solo  and just repeated by the German Eli Kotter)

Then Lama moved to Chamonix for the first Test of the Lead World Cup, and has toured the Grand Capucin with Daniel Steurer, climbing on sight until the crux the route Petit 8b (FA in 1997 by Arnaud Petit and Stefanie Bodet on the east wall) and climbed free by Alex Huber in 2005.

The crux failed the Austrian; physical problems to his belayer  that has suffered the climb to 3800 meters,  forced him to give up the redpoint. Anyway, the next day, Lama carried out the free ascent of the route.
