11 Jul Gasherbrum II for Ueli Steck

 

Two months later of the redpoint on sight except to one pitch of the route "Golden Gate" on the legendary El Capitan in Yosemite, On July 9,  Ueli Steck summited Gasherbrum II (8035 m) .
 
This is Ueli’s second trip to Gasherbrum II : exactly three years ago, on July 9 2006, Ueli together  Cédric Hählen and Hans Mitterer climbed the East summit of Gasherbrum II (7772 m), over the  "Magic Line” (first ascent).
 
The ascent of the relatively easy  Gasherbrum II via normal route  is part of a more ambitious program for the fall, on Makalu
