06 Jun Nina Caprez, 8c+ in Montpellier
First 8c+ for the Swiss champion Nina Caprez that resolved Hélix au Pays des Merveilles (Pic Saint Loup, Montpellier). This is also the first female ascent of Hélix, climbed before only by Gerome Pouvreau and Cédric Lachat. “This huge limestone cave was one of the best things I’ve ever seen in my life. The quality of rock is unbelievable: beside pure tufas you have perfect crimps, pockets…” said Nina. “The climb was pure, athletic, powerful and just beautiful! “ It starts with a big boulder problem in the beginning, then some easier climb with two good rests and goes on consistent before you reach the final tufa, where everything plays in your forearms.”
Next summer or autumn, Nina will try Orbayu, the mythical route opened by Iker and Eneko Pou on Naranjo de Bulnes whit a difficult of 8c+/9a.
