The first 8C boulder in Yosemite

A remarkable first ascent in the mythical Yosemite Valley

Yosemite is one of the most historic places for world climbing in all its forms and fundamental pages have also been written here in bouldering, first and foremost with the iconic Midnight Lightning, one of the symbols of boudering itself!

Yet, some extreme boulder were still missing to represent the modern era of bouldering, ideally represented by that difficulty of 8C-V15 which has become somewhat the emblem of the rebirth of this discipline and of its development in the new millennium, even with all the arbitrariness and limits that grades can have.

However, the little known Pablo Hammack filled this gap, sending the intense line of Love will tear us apart, of which the uncut video is reported on the youtube channel Mellow and for which a difficulty of 8C has been proposed.

For those wondering who Pablo is, actually this young and very strong climber had so far remained in the shadows … But looking at his Instagram profile we discover that his level is very high, as demonstrated by the repetition of The Nest 8C in Red Rocks dating back to mid-December 2020 and also the ascent of the 8C+ of Sleepwalker again at Red Rocks in early February …
