Mammut: Smart 2.0 - Up-Climbing

Mammut: Smart 2.0

For the new climbing products of the 2018 summer collection, Mammut focuses on improved safety combined with a lower weight.

Internationally renowned Mammut athletes Dani Arnold and Tatsuya Aoki have been involved in the development of new climbing line products. The test field, as well as inspiration for the name of the line, was the Poncione d’Alnasca, one of the most impressive rock walls in Switzerland.

Dani Arnold showed immense skills with his record on the Eiger and the Matterhorn, while Tatsuya Aoki was the youngest, just 21, to get to the summit of K2.

The two athletes have climbed together for the first time on the Poncione d’Alnasca and, to find the right harmony before starting the adventure, they trained in the gym together. There they were able to test the products of the new collection: the new SMART 2.0 insurer and the addition SMARTER.

SMART 2.0

The smart 2.0 is the new version of the already known Mammut insurer. With a weight of only 80 grams, the Smart 2.0 is easy to use, has no moving parts or levers and offers an important braking effect. Ideal for use in both sport and traditional climbing. Braking is faster in the event of a fall and the new braking insert completely wraps around the rope.

SMARTER

With the Smarter, Mammut has developed a solution designed to make climbing safer, from children and beginners. Combined with SMART 2.0, the addition increases safety even in case of incorrect positioning of the hands on the insurer. The Smarter is inserted in the SMART 2.0 and, in the event of a fall, it blocks the rope even when the braking rope is above the SMART 2.0. The weight is 8 grams.
