Namibia: new route on Yosemite Style

 

On June 1, Majka Burhardt, mountain guide based on Boulder, Colorado, topped out a new 1300-foot 5.11+, Grade 5 rock climbing first ascent on the Brandberg, Namibia’s highest peak.  
“The kind of climb you do in Yosemite” said Majka.
 
With her Peter Doucette aspirant mountain guide of North Conway (New Hampshire) and the strong climber Kate Rutherford.
 
Majka Burhardt has been guiding since 1999, and, in 2003, was the fourth woman in the United States to become certified by the American Mountain Guides Association, the exclusive credentialing organization for American guides.
 
On 2007 published "Vertical Ethiopia "a book that documents a climbing expedition to unexplored sandstone spires in northern Ethiopia.
