New variant on NW of Huascaran Norte - Up-Climbing

New variant on NW of Huascaran Norte

First week of june, Peruvian Christian Stoll Dávila and American Mark Smiley, both aspirant mountain guides in their countries, completed in 6 days the ascent of NW face of Huascaran Norte (6655 meters), on a route very near to Casarotto and Paragot, maybe tracing a variant in the lower section of the 1400 meters wall.

The North wall of Huascaran Norte is seldom climbed, in reason of the dangerous conditions of the mountain.
On 2005 Steve House and Marko Prezelj gave up their project due to the incessant rock and ice blocks falls.
The Davila and Smiley’s route is 1400 meters long, ED, 60 – 80 º, 6a and doesn’t permit retreat after the first third of the wall.
