Otegui and Bereciartu free El Castillo de los Sacristanes

 
The pair of highly talented basque climbers Josune Bereziartu and Rikar Otegui plan to free all the prominent routes in the Ordesa valley in the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park (Spain)
 
On 2008 Ricardo and Josune  redpointed Divina commedia 7c, 400m, on 2007  El Ojo Critico, 8a, 400m (a route by themselves first climbed in Gallinero) and on 2008 Zaratustra 8a / 8a+ 400m.
 
This year they  have carried out the first free ascent of El Castillo de los Sacristanes in the Ordesa National Park, Spain, first ascended in 2006 by Manu Cordovaand and still hadn’t been  freed They reported that the line is very elegant and well protectable. They did two attempts to free the crux pitch. During the ascent, Josune onsighted a 7b+
Born in 1972 and climbing at a level far beyond the rest of the women in the world, Josune is  the only female to have climbed grade 9a/5.14d (Bain de Sang in 2002 and Logical Progression).  In May 2005, she made the second ascent of Bimbaluna, graded 9a/9a+ (5.14d/5.15a).
