On 28 December 2008 Ueli Steck from Switzerland climbed the classic Colton – Macintyre route up the North Face of the Grandes Jorasses in 2 hours and 21 minutes, setting a new record for the wall and climbing all three great North Faces of the Alps in staggering times: Eiger, Matterhorn and Grandes Jorasses.
First climbed by british climbers Nick Colton and Alex MacIntyre in a 24 hour marathon in 1976 at ED2, A1,VI/6, 90°, the 1100m route now is ED2, WI6, M6.
