Floatin: Mission completed for Ryuichi!
The Launch Pad Proj becomes the new 8C+ in Mizugaki13 December 2021
The Japanese climber writes another page in the history of bouldering in the East...
Ryuichi Murai already presented his new extreme project on Instagram a few weeks ago.
After the FA of Nexus, 8C+, done at the end of October in the Shiobara area, this very strong boulderer found his next challenge on Mount Mizugaki, with the Launch Pad Project, which he began to besiege with other top climbers, Tomoa Narasaki including.
A no foot start from two crimps to get a hard gaston, cross and couple both hands (no foot again) on minimal holds and from here topout with another couple of intense moves. Two sections respectively of 8C and 8B+ each, of which Murai published the video on IG just a few days ago. After solving them separately, the day before yesterday Ryuichi finally managed to connect them and realized his dream, a first ascent which he named Floatin, proposing the 8C+.
In addition to Nexus, and to United which he sent in November 2019 again on Mizugaki, he has now climbed three boulders of this difficulty, in addition to a dozen of other 8Cs built over the world and the years.
Japan thus offers another extreme world-class kingline, and let’s hope that after this further line, finally some western climbers will consider to come here, to try and climb on the many reference boulders that the Far East presents!
