Matt Fultz’s Incredible 24 Hours at Red Rocks!
The sixth ascent of Sleepwalker and the repeats of Squoze and Trieste Sit05 February 2021
Again exceptional climbs for the very strong American
After a few weeks of silence, Matt Fultz returns with great news, and on the Red Rocks sandstone he has certainly lived the most productive 24 hours of his career to date!
For a few days, social networks have shown us that the 99% of American bouldering power is condensed under the famous Sleepwalker, with many climbers at work or to repeat it or to send the sit start, inevitably destined to be a 9a boulder problem ...
Matt was among them and the day before last night he won the sixth ascent of the stand version of 8C+ just over a month after the fifth made by Nathan Williams. We recall that Sleepwalker was first climbed by Jimmy Webb in early 2019, repeated shortly after by Daniel Woods and Nalle Hukkataival and in January of the last year it represented the world consecration of Drew Ruana, with his fourth ascent.
For Fultz it is the second 8c+, following the great fourth ascent of Hypnotized Minds in the RMNP, which took place in September.
But that's not all! Not at all tired or satisfied, Matt repeated Squoze, another very popular line just to the left of Sleepwalker, formerly 8c and now settled on 8b+. He climbed both lines on the same evening while yesterday afternoon, less than 24 hours, he also repeated the 8B+ of Trieste Sit. Now he has just to go back and wait its turn on the sit start of Sleepwalker!
