Another 8C+ from Japan!

Kazuma Ise sends Hallucination

21 December 2021
The young Japanese managed to climb this historic boulder after the break of a hold

In this period in which news of great climbs has arrived from Japan, also the 18-year-old Kazuma Ise also returns, after showing his potential in the past months on Mount Horai, with the 8Cs of Byaku-Dou and Vanitas.

Horai is again the location of his latest ascent, on the historic Hallucination line: a boulder whose first ascent dates back to 2003 by Dai Koyamada, who proposed the 8C for it (at the time one of the few in the world). As far as we know, over the years Nomura Shinichiro has been the only boulderer who has managed to repeat it, also because the breaking of a fundamental hold seemed to have made this historic line infeasible.

Kazuma, however, believed it, and two days ago he managed to re-climb Hallucination, proposing a difficulty of 8C+. If confirmed, it would be the first boulder of this level for him, as well as one of the hardest line in Japan!
