A great highball of 8c for Anthony Gullsten!
Finally sent an old project in Finland13 April 2020
The last great FA of one of the most known and strongest Finnish climbers... besides Nalle Hukkataival!
In Finland it is still allowed to go out and be in nature, and it is possible to wait for the end of the virus emergency enjoying the rock too!
This is what Anthony Gullsten did, taking the opportunity to visit Piilolampi, a boulder area a few kilometers north of Helsinkii: here, for twenty years, a majestic line of 10 meters, an overhanging crack with dynamic crux when you are already 6/7 meters high, was still waiting for a first ascent...
Gullsten started working on it last year and a couple of days ago, he did the long-waited FA: so, Silver Lining was born, for which Anthony proposes the 8C.
On instagram, these are his comments:
“These are some crazy times we're living.. I couldn't have imagined being in this situation a month ago. Thankfully here in Finland, we still have the opportunity to go outside. Enjoy the outdoors and the abundant forests that hide some excellent boulders! The perfect place for social distancing. I've been laid off for 2 weeks now, which means that I have quite a lot of free time in my hands.. The good thing is that the weather has been great, so I've been keeping myself busy by roaming the woods. The past couple weeks I've put all my focus and efforts into this one particular line. It's been a notorious project since the place was first discovered 20 years ago. Now the project has finally been put to rest and given a name.My proudest FA to date!”
