Gassner climbs Action Directe - Up-Climbing

Gassner climbs Action Directe

Philipp Gassner has climbed Action Directe, 9a in Frankenjura.

Since the first 8c+ climbed at age 14, Philipp has grown up a lot. With dedication and training, he has reached the 9th grade level and also the 8C boulder. The last one name on the extreme route climbed list is really famous, known also as the first 9a ever: Action Directe. Videos from Iker Pou, di Gabri Moroni, di Koyamada have thousand and thousand views, the crux on the one finger pocket is the most famous move in the world, maybe together with the Es Pontas’ dyno. In the 27 ascents there is also the FFA by Melissa Le Nevé, who climbed the line back in 2020.

Gassner was looking for the ascent of Action since years, but without finding the time to give some serious tries. This spring the time has come and the route has fallen quite quickly . Philipp says that the most difficult thing has been to climb without any pressures, because he knew that he could climb it.

The first italian climber to repeat Action Directe was Gabriele Moroni, back in April 2010. After him, a really young Stefano Carnati in 2016 and Stefan Scarperi in 2018.
