Ice Climbing Lessons with Outdoor Research ep.2 [VIDEO] - Up-Climbing

Ice Climbing Lessons with Outdoor Research ep.2 [VIDEO]

Here the second Ice Climbing lesson by Outdoor Research, on how to safely position an ice belay.

On the firs episode we saw how to place ice screws, in this video instead, Patrick Ormond explains how to put the belayer in a safe positiond during the climbing.

Something to rember:

– Belayer position is really important due to falling ice

– During Ice leads consider to down anchoring the belayer so they don’t get pulled into falling ice

– During top roped ice climbing anchoring the belayer away from falling ice is an important consideration

– For down anchoring the belay loop should be used and not the back of the harness.

and for the rest.. watch the video!
