Karine Ruby, World and Olympic snowboarding champion (golden medal in Nagano in 1998 and a silver in Salt Lake City) , died in a mountain accident in the area of Tour Ronde, Mont Blanc, on Friday may 29th. At the moment of the accident, she was guiding two climbers on a tour through the Tour Ronde section at 3.300 meters: all the 3 alpinists were killed falling into a 20 meters crevasse
Karin Ruby was 31. After the Winter Games in Turin, she left the competitions and became Alpine Guide.
