Khan Tengri’s new route: UPDATE

In Aug. we gave the new that Gleb Sokolev and Alexander Kirikov carried out the ascent of a  new route – Zmeyka – on Khan Tengri 7010m, one of the most famous mountains of the Tjan Shan, on the border of Kazakstan and Kirgistan.

The peak was reached on 8 August after five days of climbing and a forced rest due to bad weather.
Sokolov  learned later that the route was climbed several years ago by Ukrainian Team lead by Kondakov. More over, the similar line (not exactly the same ) was climbed in 1936 by Abalakov’s
team.
