Nevado Ulta: first ascent of south wall

In july 2008, Basque climber Aritza Monasterio together with the Slovenian Viktor Mlinar completed in alpine style a new route on the inexplorated south wall of Nevado Ulta in Cordillera Blanca (Perou). The route, christianed Andinista Rifnik, is 650 m long and was valueted  VI/4+/TD+/ ED. Andinista Rifnik is dedicated to Pavle Kozjek, died in Mustagh Tower (Karakorum) in August 2008. Aritza Monasterio visited Nevado Ulta in 2006 with  Mikel Saez de Urabain and in 2007 with the slovenian climber Gregal, but the bad weather conditions made at that time impossible any ascent. Nevado Ulta is located not far from Huascaran e Chopicalqui.
