First winter ascent of Via Masada at Sass Maor

 
On february 27-28th, Rolando Larcher and Fabio Leoni completed the first winter ascent of  the long and difficult  via Masada 1260m VIII- e A0 on Sass Maor east wall. (Pale di San Martino group)
On  2001 Marco Canteri and Davide De Paoli first ascented the route together with Samuele Scalet, 61 at that time.
The ascent required two full days of climbing, a bivy at half wall and a second bivy rappelling on the route. Larcher freed the first A0 section. According to Riccardo Scarian that climbed the route on summer,  it could considered a “boulder” 8a+
