Salathe + Nose – 12 hours for Honnold and Leary

We left Honnold e Leary last days of may, recording  the unbelievable free climb of Salathe on Yosemite’s El Capitan in 8.30 hours.

That time, they wanted to climb in the same day NW wall of Half Dome as well, but the weather conditions were not good enough to complete the project.

On june 24, Alex Honnold and Sean Leary have climbed the Salathé Wall in a record 4 hours and 55 minutes. After that, in the scorching heat, the pair ran up the Nose, masterpiece of Warren Harding,  in 7 hours.

So they did 12 hours climbing for two routes requiring 3\4 days each!

All that sound extraordinary, but is as well the proof that training, organisation, preparation and talent can produce astonishing results.

Just to compare: Tommy Caldwell on October 2005 climbed in less than 24 hours The Nose and Freerider. On Nose “run” also Brothers Huber on 2007 on 2.45 hours and on 2008 Hans Florine and Yuji Hirayama in two minutes less ( 2.43.33)-
