Jules Henry: 8a+ at age 8
A new baby champion04 May 2021
Jules Henry has climbed Sacrilège, 8a+ at age 8.
Jules or, as he likes "Spider Jules", is a normal boy. He plays, he is a passionate climber and he climbs… Really well! He started to have some social channel feed days ago, while he climbed his first 8a+. In Saussois he has climbed Sacrilège, a classical on the grade. Huge glasses, oversize climbing shoes, a bright look: we already like Jules! On his Instagram there are some easy moments, while he is climbing, he is working on a route, he is playing with figures… We breathe passion and fun. What about his nickname? Jules9a. Is it a promise?
Angie Scarth-Johnson is a similar record, with an 8b climbed at age 9. For having other comparison, we could take Toby Roberts, who has climbed his first 8a at age ten, with Raindogs and becoming the youngest brit on the grade. For the next level, the youngest guy to climb a 9a is Illya Bakhmet-Smolenskyi, that at age 13 has sent Chromosome X. France seems to be a magical place for being a young talent. In the list of the young guns there are names such as Merard, Bertone, Blass,... We will see a lot of great ascents!
