Laura Rogora, another 9a and a 8b+ on sight from Iberian land
Does La Bongada shortly after climbing L-mens at first attempt07 January 2020
Laura Rogora climbs hard again in Spain where did La Bongada in Margalef, bringing her 9a to five, shortly after resolving first 8b+ on sight, L-mens at Montsant.
Crazy Spanish holidays for Italian top climber Laura Rogora who in the past few days has scored two other formidable shots that confirm a truly sublime form.
Proceeding in chronological order, after having climbed Pal Norte 8c+/9a to Margalef in the last hours of 2019, Laura has also focused on climbing and resolved in this style L-mens at Montsant, which with 8b+ grade represents for Rogora a new level on OS.
Just a handful of hours later, however, she returned to Margalef to concentrate again on the work and soon she passed the rope into the chain of La Bongada, a 9a route that represents the fifth climb of this difficult for her.
This pitch, bolted by Renaud Moulin, had seen the first ascent by the Spanish idol Ramón Julián Puigblanque in 2012 which had given an initial grade of around 8c. Alex Megos denied it quite radically, repeating it, he said that he had very little of the 8c and that it was harder than the 8c+ in the area. The grade of 9a was therefore more appropriate.
This opinion met the favors of other climbers like Dani Andrada and Dani Fuertes who later repeated it.
It is in any case the fifth 9a for Laura. The first one was Grandi Gesti at the Grotta dell'Arenauta, Sperlonga, in 2016, followed by Joe Cita in Oliana in 2017 and Escalamasters in Perles and Rèveille Toi in Collepardo in 2019.
