Rogora and Moroni also strong in Spain
The performance of Italian climbers continues02 January 2020
The list of Italian climbers who, engaged in the "holidays" on Iberian land, is completing one of their projects is getting longer. These are Laura Rogora and Gabriele Moroni who in Margalef led the rope in the chain respectively by Pal Norte, 8c+ /9a, and by Demencia Senil, 9a+.
Bolted by Òscar Jiménez, Pal Norte is a classic that requires great resistance before the final crux. Ramon Julián was the one who freed it in 2007 and Laura, who resolved this project on her second day in Spain, is probably the first female as there are no previous ascents.
Long-standing Gabry's first attempts on Demencia date back to 2014. In 2015, the very strong climber from Novara was very close to solving it but he had fallen several times at the last hard movement.
This year, however, he managed to sign the third ascent of an Italian on the route, after the recent one of Stefano Carnati and that of Stefano Ghisolfi in 2015, and the eighth overall.
