Michal Mikušínec: 9a+ first ascent

He climbs an old project

13 March 2021
Michal Mikušínec has climbed his first 9a+, bypassing the 9a.

We are talking about a route bolted by Milan Beninan more than twenty years ago and without any ascene. Adam Ondra tryed hard on the route back in 2019, but without success. The young Michal has cathced the first ascent, proposing the 9a+ range. Chiroptera is born, a new extreme line in Súľov, Slovenia.

The route starts with a hard section, around 8b. Then, five monos in a row takes the grade to 9a+. Unfortunately, one of them has been adjusted by the first ascenter.

Michal is not unexpert to the high level. At 16 he has climbed his first 8c without a real training and now, with a proper plan, he has reached really good results.
