9h club: Ventajas, Flor and Bolger

Hard lines in Europe

22 January 2022
Alex Ventajas, Jonatan Flor and Tom Bolger on their 9th grade projects.

The high tenence wind that caught Ondra in Spain has also favored other climbers. The closest to Italy was Alex Ventajas, who managed to grab a repeat of Martin Krpan, the routethat became famous for being Adam Ondra's first 9a. Alex solved the route rather quickly, calling it a perfect mix of technique, endurance and precision. This is his fourth grade 9 route.

Jonatan Flor, who has been missing from our narratives for a while, is back with a bang. Following the mantra "Buscar, equipar y después escalar" (Finding, bolting and then climbing) has brought to light some very interesting new routes in Alicante:

Rheingold 9a

Directo al salto 8c

Mi pequeña 8c

Hard Life 8b+

Perlita 8b+

Simple Life  8b

Noa 8a+

Tom Bolger, whose story is a source of endless motivation, is no exception. His latest project is a real test piece on the strength of fingers, with a long sequence of single fingers in a strong overhang. This is the key to climbing La Vida in high definition, the last 8c+/9a born in Margalef.
