A great Davide Bassotto in Entraygue: climbs Condé de Choc and did his first 9a
Golden moment for Italian climbing17 October 2019
Extraordinary moment of good health for Italian climbing where even Davide Bassotto adds his name to the 9a climbers resolving Condé de Choc to Entraygues.
Another excellent performance by a climber from Italy, testifying that Italian climbing is alive and enjoys very good health. This once again proves this time Davide Bassotto, 21-year-old climber from Rivalta di Torino, who has ascended Condé de Choc, a 9a route freed by Tony Lamiche in 2006, at Entraygues.
"My first 9a ever !!! I started trying this pitch before last summer, in some attempts I sent the first part called Cordée de Choc, 8c+, more similar to a boulder than a sporting route. On the same day, I observed the movements of the second section and discovered that it was really my climbing style!
The conditions were getting worse due to the summer temperatures, so I had to wait. In the last two weeks of October, I spent 3 days at Entraygue, I felt very good on rock and in the end I managed to climb it thanks to the cold."
Really a great satisfaction for Davide, who has thus achieved "the" dream grade for excellence. In this world where super-performances make the headlines, let's not forget the many guys who, with thousands of study or work commitments, give us more and more in the few free half hours of the day and who come to similar results.
In any case, I was talking about the good moment for Italian climbers, the ascent of Davide is added to the recent achievements of Alessandro Larcher and Lorenzo Bogliacino that a few days ago they also hit this important result climbing respectively Thunder Ribes in Arco and The Third Age in Camaiore.
The period is particularly prolific for Bassotto who, in addition to the rope, has also been actively involved in bouldering and in the last few weeks has solved problems such as New Base Line, 8b + in Magic Wood, and Minors in Carico and Steppenwolf, 8b respectively in Champorcher and again to Magic.
