Hirayama: 8c+ FA at age 52!

Unstoppable Yuji Stone Rider

23 December 2021
Yuji Hirayama frees a new 8c + at age 52.

What a legend! Yuji Hirayama is definitely one of those climbers that each of us hopes to meet at least once in our life. His exploits are legendary, starting from the first hard pitches passing through the extreme blocks, the extraordinary multipitches, the dws and much more, such as the records on El Capitan or the thrilling onsights. Few people know that Yuji is also extremely active within the Japanese federation and has helped bring climbing to Tokyo 2020, working closely with the IFSC. All this, always with a warm and sincere smile, which only feeds the myth of Hirayama.

At the age of 52 he continues to climb hard both on resin and on rock: his bouldering problems at Base Camp are some of the most viewed on social networks and on rock... He continues to be at the top! At the end of 2021 he decided to free Hanabi, a pitch on Mount Futago. For this FA he proposes the grade of 8c+ and the name of "fireworks", translating it into English. Now tell us, who is your myth? And why Yuji Hirayama?
