James Pearson climbs Tribe
First repetition for the hardest trad route24 October 2020
James Pearson has climbed Tribe, 9a (?) trad in Cadarese.
Cadarese is for sure the most important reality in Italy for trad climbing and it is well known also in the whole world. The rock is full of cracks and they are really useful for placing the trad gear. The climbing style of Cadarese is really hard at this aspect make the crag the perfect school for trad climbing. Jacopo Larcher has established Tribe, before know as "the big project of Cadarese", back in 2019. He has climbed it but Tribe still has not a grade. Someone says that it is the first 9a in trad climbing story, but Jacopo, and also James, just says that it is the hardest route on the style. After a great process, Tribe took just seven lead attempts to James fon the ascent. Some others strong climbers have tried it, like the Slovenian Jernej Kruder, who is a boulderer but he is so fascinated by trad climbing. James, who is the strongest trad climber in UK, has joined the 9a club just this year, with Condé de Choc. % made in Italy. About Tribe, he says "Tribe would already be an awesome sport route, and one I’m sure people would be queueing up to try to climb. What makes it really special however, is that no one needed to place bolts to climb it safely. Mother nature gave us everything that we need, right here... An amazing line, a cool series of holds, and gear placements, right where you need them."
