Schubert: 9a+ in DWS!
First repetition of Alasha13 October 2021
Jakob Schubert signs the first repetition of Alasha.
Tewnty meters before the crux, and then an 8th grade boulder. Every time you fall, you have to restart from the ground. DWS (Deep Water Soloing) is that discipline where you climb in free solo, protected just by the waves of the sea.
Jakob Schubert has probably grow up watching Chris Sharma’s videos, the biggest DWS developer, free ascensionist of such a great classic as Es Pontas, line over the 9a. Another iconic route is Alasha, in Mallorca, that is around 9a+. At 18 meters high there is the crux, a boulder around 8B. When Sharma did the FA, he didn’t say anything about the grade, but we can trust Jakob and his experience in high level climbs.
The first repetition of Alasha is just the last brick in Schubert’s amazing 2021 wall, full of goals reached, like the world champion title i lead, the bronze at the Olympics, the gold medal in world cup and something else.
