Wonderland: 9b/+ in Arco by Ondra!

Italian hardest route

24 March 2022
Adam Ondra frees Wonderland, 9b/+ in Arco.

Just a few days ago we were talking about how the Ondra-Ghisolfi "couple" is giving excellent results in the Trentino area. The two have practically repeated all the important routes and are now dedicating themselves to really extreme projects that still wait for a first ascent.

The latest FA from the Czech Republic is Wonderland, a pitch bolted by Alfredo Webber. To be honest, Adam definitely put his hand in the bolting too, finding an alternative start and adding the necessary bolts. A day of excellent conditions was the key to success for Adam, who managed to climb the route with a great battle, just like climbing hard pitches must be in his opinion.

According to him, speaking of grade, Wonderland is the hardest route in Arco and, by extension, the hardest in Italy. It remains harder than Erebor, but Ondra doesn't know if the full 9b+ is worth it. For now he just gives the 9b/+ and leaves the difficult decision to the repeaters. Who will be the first to repeat it?
