Hervé Barmasse is back again on the Matterhorn, his “home” mountain, after climbing the last spring with his father Marco, the long "couloir Barmasse" .
In early April, the Mountain Guide of Valtournenche has done the first ascent, staying five days on the wall, a new route on the south face of Picco Muzio, 4235m. The route follows a gully of snow and ice for 500 meters and then pass a high vertical and overhanging wall of bad rock where no one had ever ventured before.
"When I reached Picco Muzio - Hervé wrote on his website - stress and fear of not being able to complete the climb suddenly disappeared and remained only a great happiness and inner peace. I was aware that I have done something great, but mostly I was happy to not climb any longer on such a bad and friable rock. Above me there were only heaven and the first the stars of the night."
