Vogelfrei first free ascent

04 December 2009 The 2009 has been an extraordinary year for the very talented austrian climber Hansjörg Auer (well known for his free solo of the Pesce in Marmolada): this summer he free climbed Silberschrei 7c at Sass de la Crusc and La Cattedrale 8a in Marmolada, and - between 31.8 and 01.09 , with one night on portaledge, belayed by his brother Vitus - has done the first free ascent of Vogelfrei, a 400meters route - 14 pitches 8b/8b+ - on the central part of Schüsselkarspitze’s South wall.
